Essential add-on
Aside from adding another 15lbs to the base handle weight, the primary benefit to me is better balance of the dumbbell, and a shorter, more manageable handle length. It's an expensive add-on, but made a huge difference for me. Highly recommended.

A great add on for Ironmasters dumbbells
Ironmaster's team quickly resolved my issue with one of the Heavy Handle plate not tightening in place securely. To resolve this issue they sent me replacement plates that they tested with a return label for returning the one that I had an issue with.


The Heavy Handle Plate Kit feel evenly distributed, stable, and comfortable in my hands. I haven’t experienced any slipping of the heavy handle plates, even during my sweaty intensive workouts. The plate mechanism is smooth and doesn't take long to add/remove if needed.

Heavy Handle Kit is Legit
The heavy handle kit is a great way to tack on some additional weight. Starting at 20 lbs is not a concern as I rarely do anything with less than 20. The plates fit securely inside the handles, with no rattling or movement. There is still ample size to get a grip on the dumbbell and doesn’t impede your hands at all. Another great item by IronMaster. I should have purchased these dumbbells years ago; they’ve become the most used items in my home gym.

A truly great product. Easily and securely adds weight to the dumbbell set. It also makes the dumbbell more secure since the grip length is reduced some. Still plenty of room for even the largest hands. A must purchase.

Another truly great product from Ironmaster. This is a must-have: the way this kit reduces the overall size of the dumbbells is excellent for keeping the weight (and your grip) more centered at any poundage. More centered = less need to stabilize during movements = more strength, which is essential for getting the most out of your training. Install is fairly easy.

I echo the sentiments of most reviewers. The heavy handle kit is a nice upgrade, since it increases the weight while leaving the footprint the same. Narrowing the grip helps to center the dumbbell in the hands. I have pretty big hands which still fit comfortably in the narrowed grip. The added weight has the unanticipated benefit of challenging my grip more during DB rows.

My only critique is $159 pretty expensive for 30 lbs of iron. I'll get $159 worth of utility out of the purchase, so I'll keep the 5 star review.

This kit eliminates the width of the grip but adds on 15# from the get go. A must have in my opinion. Typical ironmaster quality throughout.

The heavy handle set is a must have. Not only does it give you 90lbs to work with but they also make the grip width perfect. Buy them, you’ll be glad you did.

Really improves the balance of the dumbbells, if you think the longer handles of the IM dumbbells is awkward I highly recommend.

Excellent Product
I purchased directly from IM as it was cheaper than anywhere else in Canada. Shipping was fast! Product is excellent. Brings balance to the DB's that is much appreciated. Looking at the cost to weight ratio it is hard to justify, but when you consider the other benefits it is a no-brainer.

The addition of the heavy handles have been well worth it. Not only do they allow you to add extra weight. They balance out the dumbbell very well. Highly recommend. Leave plenty of room for hands as well. No issue there.

Excellent
Excellent kit. I prefer the width of the handle with this addition. I put the bolt heads to line up with the arrow making it even easier to see the release side. That extra 15lb max/90lb dumbbells is great. You also don't have to add as many 5lb plates since you're starting at 20lb. You do lose the lower weights is the one downside.

A needed upgrade
If you do not lift weights less than 20 pounds, then this is a must have. It is extremely sturdy, looks good, and feels good while using them. Installation was simple. I'm very glad I bought these.

This is a brilliant design. Prior to buying these, I had their 75 lb adjustable DB's. The best benefit in my opinion is the balance this addition offers to the overall feel of the dumbbells. Their DB's feel great either way but these make them feel a bit more like a traditional DB by centering the weight distribution. They do not move around at all. I've used them 3-4x/week in my training for the past 1-2 months since adding the heavy handle kit and have not had to make any adjustments or tighten them. Perfect design. Highly recommend.

Heavy Handel Plate Kit
I have had the heavy handles for about two weeks. I wanted more than the 75 pound max of my dumbbells but did not need to go all the way up the 120 pound add on kit. My experience has been similar to other reviewers. The heavy handles improved the feel of the dumbbells and have remained secure so far. I would highly recommend if you need a little extra weight or just to improve the feel of the dumbbells.

Love the weight closer
I bought these when they were first released because I loved the idea of the weight being closer to my hand. Two or three years later I see someone comment about combining both sets on one handle. I may hve to try this out on one dumbbell to see if it works for my hand. If so I may order again. Just the one set feels a lot more comfortable on the wrist.

These are the best add-ons to the quick lock dumbbell system. I purchased these back in February even before getting the QLDB since I was waiting to be selected for the lottery. After reading reviews and watching YouTube I decided I needed to buy these as soon as it was available. The craftsmanship, packaging, and setup is fantastic. IronMaster�s attention to detail is superb. This helps balance the dumbbell to be more centered in gravity. This turns the dumbbell into a starting point of 20lbs without locking screws. This also brings in the handle width down to 5� which is equivalent to standard dumbbells. If you have the QLDB system or considering getting one, please be sure to add these to cart as well. Great addition to my QLDs, easy to install and bombproof so far. Most of the other reviews state that dumbbells are now much better balanced with the heavy handle kit, more compact for the same amount of weight... I totally agree, DBs much more functional now. I purchased my QLDB set in 2010 and have used them few times/week for the last 10 yrs without any issues... exceptional product, I wish i purchased my heavy handle kit sooner, worth the expense

Quite simply, the best addition that you can buy for the QLDB system. The tension system works perfectly to keep them in place and the handle seems (to me) far more comfortable and balanced with it on. I don't anticipate taking them off again. I'd rather get a second set of handles and add the fat grips to them.

I just bought these and they are already my favorite purchase from this site. Like mentioned elsewhere, they do bring the center of gravity inward, resulting in a more secure feel, but what I also love is how much simpler they make operating the whole system. 35lbs on the stock QLDB is a 6-plate system, but with these handles its only 1 plate per side. By the time you add more than 2 plates/side, you're already taking your QLDBs into the 45-60lb "bonus range" this add on kit provides. Great value.

The largest benefit to the heavy handle kit is decreasing the overall handle length. Solid construction. Extra weight was not really the reason I bought this as I already had bought the expansion kit. This add on is not for everyone, but the better grip and balance is noticeable.
